About Jessica del Rosso
Jessi (She/They) is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Her journey began with a deep commitment to supporting youth in foster care, inspired by her own experiences as a foster child. This unique perspective provides her with a powerful sense of empathy, and a genuine understanding of the challenges young people face.
Jessi specializes in building trusting relationships with youth (ages 11+) who are navigating the complexities of emotional regulation, ADHD, autism, identity, and marginalization. She creates a space where your child can feel seen and heard, helping them discover their own strengths while learning to voice their struggles in a healthy, productive way.
Emotional Regulation
Seeing your child struggle with intense emotions or high-risk behaviours is incredibly worrying for any parent. It can be frightening to see your teen struggling with things like self-harm, sudden outbursts of anger, or shutting down and withdrawing from family, school, or friends. Jessi is exceptionally skilled in connecting with youth who are finding it difficult to understand and express their emotional worlds. She provides a calm, non-judgmental environment where they can safely explore what’s happening and develop effective strategies to cope. Whether your child has experienced a loss, bullying, or a major life transition, Jessi can help guide them toward safer, healthier ways of expressing their emotions and meeting their needs.
Children and Youth with ADHD and Autism
Jessi understands the neurodivergent experience from the inside out. As an adult who grew up with undiagnosed ADHD, she remembers the frustration of feeling like you have to work harder than everyone else just to keep up. This lived experience fuels her passion for supporting kids and teens (11+) with ADHD and autism. She doesn’t just see the challenges; she sees the unique strengths and perspectives that come with a neurodivergent brain.
Jessi works collaboratively with your child to build a personalized toolbox of coping mechanisms that work for them. With your child’s consent, she also partners with you, the caregivers. Her goal is to provide you with a deeper understanding, practical resources, and effective strategies to support your child’s mental health and celebrate their unique way of being in the world.
Queer and Trans Youth
It can be overwhelming for parents to navigate a world that wasn’t built for queer and trans youth, leaving you unsure of how to best advocate for your child. For your child, facing this reality can be isolating and invalidating. As a therapist with lived experience, Jessi provides a space where your child doesn’t have to educate or explain; they can feel immediately understood. This unique connection allows them to work through the challenges of marginalization, explore their identity with confidence, and develop the tools to advocate for themselves.
Background and Interests
Outside of her therapy practice, Jessi is an anime enthusiast, a creative writer, and an avid gamer (you can often find her exploring the world of Genshin Impact on her PlayStation). She finds her interests are not only creative outlets but also fun ways she connects and relates with her younger clients.
