About Rachel Niecke

Rachel Niecke is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) #17825. She completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and her Bachelor of Arts Honours (BAH) degree in psychology from the University of Guelph. Rachel was invited to join the MyLife team because of the outstanding skill, compassion, and commitment she showed while working with clients in our intensive internship program.

Young Adults & Anxiety

Life as a young adult throws a lot your way – balancing demanding studies, figuring out career paths, maintaining relationships, and just the pressure of it all. It’s common for stress and anxiety to build up. Those feelings can sometimes spike into intense, overwhelming moments of panic. Rachel focuses specifically on helping you navigate the complexities of stress, anxiety, and panic attacks. She provides a safe, understanding space to explore triggers, learn practical techniques to manage daily anxiety, cope effectively with stress, and gain tools to handle and reduce the intensity and frequency of panic. This helps you feel more in control and less overwhelmed.

Changing Unhealthy Habits & Addiction

Dealing with student stress, social pressures, or just finding your way – can sometimes lead to habits that don’t feel quite right or healthy in the long run. If you’re starting to question your relationship with substances (alcohol, cannabis, etc.) or want to shift other patterns that feel like they’re holding you back or causing harm, Rachel specializes in supporting people through exactly that process. She offers a completely non-judgmental, confidential space to explore these habits, understand the underlying reasons, and figure out what changes you might want to make. The focus is on empowering you with effective strategies and healthier coping mechanisms, helping you make choices that feel better and align with your goals for well-being.

Body Image and Self-Worth

Being exposed to a constant stream of social media can put immense pressure on how you feel about your body and yourself. If you find you’re often critical of your appearance, comparing yourself to others, or struggling with feelings of low self-worth, it’s important to know that help is available. Rachel works closely with folks struggling with these exact challenges. She offers a compassionate and non-judgmental space to explore the roots of these feelings, challenge negative self-talk, and cultivate greater self-acceptance and kindness towards yourself. The aim is to help you build a healthier relationship with your body and develop a stronger sense of self-worth based on your intrinsic value, not external pressures.

Approach & Background

Rachel’s path to becoming a therapist was shaped by her familial and work experiences with addiction and mental health challenges. This background gave her a core belief: positive change is always possible, even when things feel difficult or uncertain. She’s passionate about supporting clients as they navigate their own unique journey – helping them discover their inner strengths and reach their own goals. Rachel also gets that therapy can feel like a big step or be tough sometimes, so she brings a gentle sense of humor into sessions when it feels right, helping the healing process feel more approachable and comfortable.

Personal Interests

Outside of her professional life, Rachel enjoys practicing yoga, spending time in nature, and socializing with friends and family. She also loves relaxing with her cat, Poe, and enjoys the simple pleasure of a good coffee at a local café. Growing up in a small rural town, she appreciates the peace and therapeutic benefits that nature brings and integrates this love for the outdoors into her self-care routine.
