About Priya Zalis

Priya is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She completed a five-year program in Gestalt psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Toronto.

Priya has supported clients in both private practice and agency settings since 2019. She has extensive experience helping adults and students work through life transition as well as more complex mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and disordered eating.

Priya is especially skilled at supporting clients who are processing childhood or intergenerational hurt and trauma. She helps her clients stay true to themselves as they navigate present-day relationships with parents and siblings who may have been part of a painful past.

Having supported clients and their family members in hospice, long-term care, and oncology settings, Priya is also experienced working with grief and loss. She takes the time to guide her clients through the confusion, fear, and sadness that can accompany death and helps them find connection and meaning through loss.

Clients would describe Priya’s approach as gentle, compassionate, and attuned. She helps her clients slow down and connect deeply with who they really are and what they need. When words are sometimes not enough, Priya is able to combine the benefits of music therapy in her work which can help to build self-awareness, process challenging feelings, and draw upon inner strengths.

In her spare time, Priya loves going on adventures with her toddler and partner (in all seasons!), song writing, and getting lost in a good book (mystery novels in particular).
