About Elizabeth Eastwood

Elizabeth is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with over six years of clinical experience. After successfully completing her internship at MyLife, she received her master’s degree in psychotherapy from Martin Luther University College, Wilfrid Laurier University. Elizabeth brings a warm, grounded, and even playful spirit to her work. As your therapist, she will welcome you with compassionate curiosity and provide a safe, supportive space in which to explore your challenges, develop your strengths, and realize a life which is meaningful to you.

 Grief and Loss

Someone you love doesn’t have to die for you to experience grief. In fact, grief is part of many different losses in our lives. Changes in our relationships, employment, and personal health can profoundly impact our sense of self and our sense of purpose, making it hard to feel hopeful about the future. Elizabeth is ready to name and engage with the grief which you may feel has gone unacknowledged or unprocessed in your life. She will provide non-judgmental support as you explore the reality of your loss and will offer guidance as you develop practices to express and to honour your grief. Elizabeth understands that grief can be especially complex when you are anticipating a loss that hasn’t happened yet, or when you are struggling to understand a loss that feels ambiguous and incomplete. She can draw upon various theories of grief and loss to help you understand your unique situation, and to determine for yourself what it means for you and for your life.

Relationship Challenges

It takes two to tango, and when we feel out-of-step with a friend or a partner, it’s natural to feel hurt, confused, frustrated, and even angry. When these feelings go unacknowledged, or when our attempts to address them just turn into arguments, it’s easy to feel stuck and unsure about what to do next. Elizabeth will guide you through thoughtful, open-minded examinations of the relationships and interactions you find challenging. She will help you to distinguish feelings from facts, and to be curious about the perspectives of everyone involved, including your own. By exploring boundaries, identifying personal needs, and practicing constructive styles of communication, Elizabeth will help you feel more confident in your decision-making and more empowered to affect meaningful change in your relationships.

Life Transitions

Change may be one of the few constants in life, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy! Events like graduating, moving homes, changing jobs, expanding your family, or retiring often come along with a mix of emotions and expectations, and it’s ok if you’re struggling to adapt. Elizabeth can help you transform this uncertainty into an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. She will provide a non-judgmental space in which to express your feelings and engage directly with the questions or fears which are causing you stress. By exploring your personal values and resources, Elizabeth will help you identify goals for yourself and develop strategies to achieve them. With her support, you can expand your understanding of what is possible and regain a sense of security as you grow into change.

Background and Interests

Elizabeth worked for six years as a music therapist (MTA) in hospitals, long-term care homes, and hospices, where she learned to truly appreciate the profound impact of providing a listening ear and supportive presence. As a life-long musician and dancer, an amateur artist, and a sometimes-actor, she brings a creative and authentic sensibility to her work as a psychotherapist. She views identity, relationships, and spirituality as ever-evolving aspects of life and is passionate about helping you shape them in ways that feel true to you.
