About Eve Tesluk

Eve is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. She’s also the co-founder of MyLife Counselling.

Eve graduated from the University of Guelph in Psychology and Fine Arts and went on to complete her advanced Art Therapy training through the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. Eve’s research focused on developing group psychotherapy programs to help people with eating disorders and youth experiencing early psychosis.

Eve has had a wide range of internship experiences including working closely with Esquimalt and Songhees Nation Aboriginal children, in-patient youth at Queen Alexandra Hospital, and designing therapy groups for individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS at the Vancouver Island’s People with HIV/AIDS Society. Most recently, Eve collaborated with McMaster University to develop art-based training to help foster empathic response in medical students.

Eve has always been a strong advocate for people experiencing mental health issues. She’s worked extensively with the Canadian Mental Health Association supporting adults and youth in the community. As a past crisis line worker, she’s highly experienced in helping people from all walks of life struggling with the effects of trauma, loss, and addiction.

Eve also knows what it’s like to be both a client and a therapist. She has struggled and learned a great deal from overcoming her own severe anxiety and panic attacks. Most recently, she worked on overcoming post-partum anxiety and depression after the birth of her first child. Since then, she’s played an active role in the community working with the Ontario Early Years Centre and educating other mothers about the importance of reaching out for help for post-partum mood disorders.

Eve’s unique training in a range of therapies helps her clients express themselves in ways that sometimes words fail to do. Clients describe Eve as easy to talk to, grounded, and highly empathetic.

Eve uses a range of effective counselling models including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Art Psychotherapy. She’s also completed advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy through the University of Toronto School of Social Work.

In addition to helping adults and youth through anxiety, panic, depression and relationship issues, Eve has extensive experience helping people struggling with negative body-images, eating disorders, and dealing with the challenges of parenthood.

When she’s not in the office, Eve is an avid lover of nature. She always looks forward to family adventures hiking, skiing, and exploring the outdoors.
