About Denise Moore

Denise completed her Masters in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfred Laurier University and is a member of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. Denise has been a long-time trusted member of the MyLife team thanks to completing her externship with us. We’re happy to now have her join us as Registrered Psychotherapist.

In addition to her work at MyLife, Denise gained valuable experience helping a range of individuals as a mental health counselling intern at the Upper Grand Family Health Team. She helped her clients work through a variety of emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, career choices, relationships, family life, grief, and health challenges.

Denise’s current focus and passion is helping clients who are struggling with unacknowledged suffering and trauma. Through her own personal and professional experience, she understands how early childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, and unstable relationships can negatively impact us later in life. Denise provides a secure and supportive therapeutic relationship that allows for a deeper healing to take place. She helps her clients move beyond their anxiety, addictions, depression, shame, and grief that can be rooted in the past.

Denise takes a holistic approach to healing and works with clients experientially as they explore their emotions. Using a combination of body awareness, emotion focused therapies, mindfulness and compassionate exploration, clients have an opportunity to notice the links between their physical, mental, and spiritual selves. Denise helps her clients identify what areas of their lives may be out of balance and how to bring them back into alignment.

Having had a career in music management, Denise came to the counselling profession later in life and draws from many lived experiences and adventures that have taken her across the country and around the world. Settling back in Elora, Ontario, Denise pursued continuing education in trauma training with Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk and Compassionate Inquiry with Dr. Gabor Mate. She also completed past training in Shambhala meditation to help support clients in being grounded in their own lives. Denise continues her own self exploration and self-care as part of her commitment to providing effective support to her clients.

Outside of the office, Denise is a devoted parent to her teenage son, avid nature lover, and arts enthusiast for the abundant offerings in Wellington County.
