About Kevin Lee

Kevin is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) #20033 and a regulated member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. He holds a master’s degree in counselling psychology and completed his internship at MyLife Counselling under the supervision of Clinical Director Mark Nixon.

Kevin’s path to becoming a therapist was shaped by his own experience with childhood OCD and anxiety, where the support he received through his own therapy journey inspired him to offer that same care to others. As a former elementary schoolteacher, he also saw firsthand how much a compassionate presence and a willingness to truly listen and understand can matter. For those clients who desire to bring awareness to their blind spots, he is also willing to gently challenge you in ways that can help you understand yourself more deeply, spark insight, and develop new perspectives. Whether you’re coming in on your own or with a partner, Kevin brings humour, authenticity, and genuine warmth into every session, helping you build the skills and self-awareness to move through whatever you’re facing.

OCD and Social Anxiety

Do you find yourself avoiding social situations, dreading group settings, or feeling intense self-consciousness around others? Does the fear of rejection or saying or doing something wrong and embarrassing cause your mind to race before social events, replay and scrutinize everything that happened afterward, or just withdraw entirely? Or perhaps you’re caught in cycles of unwanted intrusive thoughts, repetitive rituals, and overwhelming worry that something terrible will happen if you don’t do things a certain way. These patterns can feel isolating and exhausting, like being trapped in your own mind.

As someone diagnosed with anxiety and OCD at a young age, Kevin understands these struggles personally. He also has special experience in treating rumination-based OCD, or “Pure-O” as it is sometimes called. Kevin works collaboratively with you using evidence-based Exposure and Response Prevention techniques (ERP) and other Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to help you break free from obsessive thought cycles, manage compulsive behaviours, and challenge the fears that keep you stuck. If anxious thoughts are running your life, Kevin can help you take it back.

Addiction and Unhealthy Habits

Many of us develop habits or turn to substances—like alcohol, drugs, spending, gambling, or pornography—to cope with stress or numb emotional pain. Sometimes, these habits can become so difficult to control they leave you feeling guilty and ashamed or create real problems in your life and relationships. If you’re starting to question your relationship with a particular substance or habit, Kevin offers a compassionate, judgment-free space to honestly explore what’s driving these patterns. Drawing on professional training and real-world experience supporting people in recovery, he helps you uncover the stress, pain, or emptiness underneath the habit and enable you to start building a life that actually feels like yours again.

Marriage & Couples Counselling

When communication has broken down, trust has been damaged by dishonesty or infidelity, or addiction is affecting your home life, it can feel impossible to find your way back to each other. Using the evidence-based Gottman Method, Kevin helps couples rebuild empathy, repair trust, and develop practical tools for navigating conflict. His goal is to create a safe space where both of you can be honest, feel understood, and reconnect with the friendship at the heart of your relationship.

Relationship Issues and Attachment

Our early experiences can often affect how we feel and act as adults when it comes to dating, friendships, social dynamics, and family. This might show up as painful fears that your partner will leave you, a pattern of keeping people at a distance to avoid getting hurt, anger, jealousy, or finding it difficult to set boundaries. These patterns can get in the way of building the type of connections you desire, making you doubt yourself or feel alone and unfulfilled. Using a psychodynamic and attachment-based approach, Kevin helps you examine your relationship patterns, work through past hurts, and develop skills so you can start building relationships that feel secure, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Personal Background

Outside of the therapy room, Kevin enjoys staying active with CrossFit and pickup volleyball (enthusiastically, if not always gracefully). He has a passion for travel and exploring places rich with ancient history, most recently Egypt and Peru. He enjoys cooking adventurous meals to share with friends, diving into modern and classic literature, and unwinding with a good sci-fi or fantasy show.
