About Victoria Bonanno
Victoria is a Registered Social Worker with over 10 years experience in the mental health field. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and holds a Master of Social Work Degree from York University.
Victoria has a wealth of experience providing counselling for individuals, couples, and families for anger, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
She has passion working with couples. She works to provide them with a supportive and non-judgmental space to work on their relationships.
She has special experience helping people deal with chronic/newly acquired illness, acquired brain injury (ABI), concussions, and hearing/vision loss.
Victoria is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities and ensuring they receive quality and accessible counselling. Victoria is proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and provides the rare opportunity of serving clients in ASL.
Victoria spent eight years as a Connect Counsellor with the Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) helping Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and deaf- blind clients. She worked 3 years as an Advisor for Students with Disabilities at the University of Guelph. She has been a therapist with MyLife Counselling Guelph since 2019.
Victoria draws from a range of therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, and Anti-oppressive approaches. She has specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Counselling (Gottman Institute – Level 2), Solution Focused Counselling (University of Toronto), Children and Youth with Acquired Brain Injuries (Brock University), and Postpartum support (Mohawk College).
When Victoria isn’t working, you’ll find her spending time as a hula hoop fitness instructor, playing classical and electric guitar, and finding joy in the small things in life.
