About Nicole Stocco, RSW (#835470)
Nicole is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and has enjoyed supporting adolescents and adults in their journeys within the justice system, hospital settings, and community mental health.
People who have worked with Nicole would describe her as incredibly warm, supportive, and accepting. Drawing from her own experiences as someone who sought out mental health support as a teen, Nicole’s goal is to provide a safe space where her clients can express their deepest worries while learning new ways of overcoming their struggles.
Nicole first found her love for supporting adolescents while working with those involved in the youth justice system. She quickly admired the resiliency and strength present within these young men and women. As a Clinical Social Work intern at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Nicole co-developed and co-facilitated support groups to help adolescents better cope with various mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, low self-esteem, and borderline personality disorder. Her work at the Child Witness Program at Compass Community Services in Guelph (formerly Family Counselling and Support Service) has also prepared her to help youth who have experienced violence in the home.
Nicole equally enjoys supporting adults through their personal mental health journeys. As a team lead and clinician at Homewood Health, she helped develop and implement the Wellness Together Canada program to provide free counselling services to adults across Canada. She has helped adults with various concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, lack of motivation, grief and loss, domestic violence, and communication skills. Prior to this, she provided individual counselling to adults at Compass Community Services in Guelph with a special focus on working with women who have experienced domestic violence.
Nicole’s clients can be assured that they will be approached with respect, warmth, and openness. She believes that everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to gain insight, build skills, and work on achieving their goals.
Outside of the office, Nicole understands the importance of self-care. She keeps herself balanced by spending quality time with her 7-year-old rescue pup, adventuring outdoors with her partner, cooking, reading, exercising, and listening to podcasts. She is always ready for more podcast recommendations!
